Rosemary Banks Obituary

“When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll,

whatever my lot, thou has taught me to say,

It is well, it is well, with my soul.”

The Banks Family officially announces,

the Obsequies for

Beloved Educator, Soror, and Saint of God

Mrs. Rosemary Banks

With tremendous sorrow, we bow to the will of our Heavenly Father as we humbly announced the unforeseen, yet triumphant journey of our beloved treasured jewel.

In the timeless echoes of eternity, amidst the whispers of the celestial realm, the immortal words of Jesus resound, “Jesus said unto him, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me though he were dead, yet shall he live and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die, believest thou this."

On Saturday March 29, 2025, the angel of silence came, and the celestial clock chimed, the mortal shall transcend the boundaries of morality, embracing the realm of the immortal.

Mrs. Rosemary Banks legacy is etched in the tapestry of our hearts, may the grace of God, which glowed abundantly through her, be a balm to our spirits in this time of mourning.

Obitus

Mrs. Rosemary Banks involved herself in community and civic organizations in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia.

She was educated in the Savannah-Chatham County School System and was a graduate of A. E. Beach High School, class of 1958.

Rosemary exemplified great determination and matriculated at Savannah State College (University), receiving her Bachelor of Arts in education

in 1962, and her Masters in education also from Savannah State College (University). She completed graduate Studies at Columbia University and Washburn University.

Mrs. Banks served the children of multifarious counties as an educator, and returned to Savannah and continued her professional career at

Anderson Street Elementary School before returning to her Alma Mater in the early 1970's working in the Continuing Education Department.

Missionary Banks greatest legacy was her faith in God and eternal love for her family. She was a member of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church

since her early youth.  Reverently exhibiting good Christian character in religious services, Rose began singing in the youth choir when quite a little girl.  Rose always had a passion for the Missionary Society, and Christian Education Department. Connectionally, she had served on the local, district, conference, and connectional levels of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

The community was always a significant part of Rosemary's life, particularly the advancement of young African American males. Rose was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., for more than fifty years. She was past president of the Savannah Alumnae Chapter and graduate advisor for Delta Nu Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Rosemary McBride was united in holy matrimony to Leon Banks, Sr., in the year of our Lord, December 22, 1963. The Banks were nurturing parents

to one son, Dr. Leon (Suzanne) Banks, Jr., and one grandson William Davis Banks.

Let us honor her memory with grace and gratitude, knowing that her spirit dwells eternally in the embrace of God, our Father.
