Ms. Rhina Miller Obituary

”We are of good courage and hope….preferring rather to be absent from the body and to be home with the Lord”

2 Corinthians 5:8

We the Bynes-Royall Funeral Home Inc., along with the Miller Family announce the triumphant entrance into God’s kingdom of Ms. Rhina E. Miller.

On Sunday, July 10, 2022, Ms. Miller was released from her earthly dwellings at the twinkling of an eye as she answered the heavenly Father’s call

We rejoice in the confidence knowing that she is at peace with the Lord. As a community activist and city of Savannah employee, her assignment had made a sound in the earth that will travel dispensationally through time until we all meet again in the kingdom of God.

The Profile of Life

“We are of good courage and hope…. preferring to be absent from the body and to be home with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8.

Rhina Ernestine Miller was a woman of purpose, faith, and servanthood to the community, although she transitioned from her earthly life on Sunday, July 10, 2022.

Rhina, affectionately known as “Auntie” was born on February 6, 1935 to Harry and Mary Miller- and Woman became a living soul. As God exhaled, He gave life to the first born of three daughters in the form of a baby girl.

Rhina was richly blessed to be a descendent of a family with a rich heritage of love, grace, and integrity, who paved the way for expedition. She learned from her parents at an early age the value of hard work, sacrifice, and determination.

The vines of Rhina’s life were rooted in Chatham County where she grew up and exemplified great promise early in life.  She was a 1948 graduate of Oakwood High School.

Rhina matriculated at Oakwood College (now University) in Huntsville, Alabama in 1952.

Rhina served the children of multifarious schools as an educator for thirty years and began her professional career at Pearl E. Smith and JHC Butler Elementary Schools.  It was there she earned the nickname “Miller, Miller the Backside Killer.”

Rhina was one to exhibit great standards and self-sufficiency.  Upon retirement from Savannah- Chatham County Public Schools, she became employed with the City of Savanah Leisure Services and Adult Day Care as a recreational leader.  She held numerous positions, subsequently Swimming Pooler Security, and Professional Bus Driver (1990-2011).

And most remarkably, she continued to sow into the lives of others by volunteering her time and talent in service to enhance the lives of others.

Maya Angelou pays tribute to the phenomenal woman in poetic verses. Solomon salutes the virtuous woman in the biblical book of Proverbs, the biblical book of Saint Luke praises the quality of the financial gift of a woman who gives “two mites.” (All she has). The Biblical book of Saint Mark recognizes the conscientiousness of the two women who arose early in the morning to anoint the body of Jesus Christ.  Women throughout history have lived lives worthy of recognition.  Ms. Rhina Ernestine Miller was such a woman.  She was phenomenal, and yes, she was virtuous. She was extremely benevolent and was very conscientious.

In God’s sovereignty, in the span of a lifetime, He permits ladies of special grandeur to positively impact others. Rhina was one of those ladies committed and dedicated to her work and propagation of the word of God through her ministry of service.   Her prominent reputation as an outstanding leader, AND counselor is significant of her stature as a woman.

Rhina’s greatest legacy was her faith in God, her family, friends, neighbors. She always placed the well-being of others before herself.  She touched the lives of many.  Rhina had a special interest in admonishing and encouraging others with knowledge.

Rhina was preceded in death by her parents, sister Harriet Thompson, and brother-in-law Jonathan Murray.

The gentle but dynamic woman will be remembered as a woman of valor, but most of all, as a servant of the Almighty God.  She leaves a rich legacy of faith, charity, love of family and community.

Her beloved sister, Gwendolyn Murray; nephews: Robert (JoAnne) Robinson Jr., William (Irene) Anderson; nieces: Jenee’ Murray, LaTanya (Keith) Moore; great niece: Naila Anderson; great nephews: Khari Anderson, and Xaiden Famble; a Life-Long Friend: Deborah Tolbert; and a multitude of other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends
