Ms. Juanita Larry Obituary

"And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them."

                                                                                                                                                                                       Revelation 14:13

Juanita Larry transitioned Wednesday September 28th, 2022 at Hospice Savannah with her love one by her side.

Ms. Juanita Larry was born in Savannah, Georgia to the late Robert Larry, Sr. and Ruthie Mae Herman Larry. She was the third of eight children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings Franklin Larry of New York City; Robert Larry, Jr. of Pooler, Georgia; and Nathaniel Larry of Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Juanita was baptized as a young adult in St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church (Savannah) where she was a faithful and active member until her health failed. She cheerfully and without counting the cost gave of her time, talent, and treasure to benefit her church – especially the children of the parish. Juanita was a faithful member of the Council of Catholic Women (CCW) and the Friends of St. Benedict the Moor (formerly Friends of Notre Dame Academy).

A product of the public schools in Savannah, Georgia, Juanita attended Alfred E. Beach High School. After high school, she trained as a nurse’s aide and surgical technician at St. Joseph Hospital where she worked for many years. Juanita eventually went to work at Memorial Health-Savannah for more than 30 years until she retired. As in other aspects of her life, she was a dedicated and tireless worker.

Juanita was an avid football fan and especially enjoyed the game of football. She was a fan of Georgia Southern University and a member of the Savannah State University Booster Club. Most of all, she was a die-hard Atlanta Falcons fan.

Despite the challenges Juanita faced in life, she demonstrated that her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ would remove any mountain and bring her to everlasting joy.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a devoted son, Andre J. Clark of Parkland, Florida; siblings Festine Butler, Henry Lee Larry, Stevie Larry all of Savannah, Georgia and Ronnie Larry of San Jose, California; goddaughters Dorothy Harris, Claire Harris, and Amelia Harris all of Savannah, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10AM on October 8, 2022, at St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church located at 441 E. Broad Street, Savannah, GA

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Juanita Larry’s name to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
