Mrs. Willie M. Taylor "Mema" was born October 27, 1933 to Clarence and Rosa Myers Chisolm in Savannah, GA. She was educated in Savannah school system and worked most of her adult life as a caregiver.
On November 23, 1950 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Steve Jesse Taylor. From that union she had 7 children. She was a devoted wife to her husband until his passing in 1994. She continued to be a devoted mother to all her children and later to all her grandchildren, whom they affectionally called "Mema."
Mrs. Taylor later became a member of Bethel AME Church where she served on the Usher Board for many years. In 1999, Mrs. Taylor became a member of the First Thessalonians Holiness Church founded by her mother, Rosa Myers Chisolm whom she loved dearly and cared for until her death.
On July 22, 2001, Mrs. Taylor was saved and baptized with the Holy Ghost under the tutelage of Mother Mamie Thompson. There she became "Sister Willie Mae Taylor."
She was a dedicated member working tirelessly in the kitchen cooking for church with dinner and bake sales fund raisers. Sis Taylor was devoted in her faith and worked hard for the church until her health prevented her.
Preceding her in death was her beloved mother, Rosa Myers Chisolm, husband, Steve J. Taylor,2 sons, Steve Taylor III and Clarence C. Taylor.
Leaving to cherish her memory are 3 sons, Edgar L. Taylor (Maline), Marion James Taylor and Carey B. Taylor; 2 daughters, Brenda (Barnell) Sanders and Viola M. Bowers; a niece, Dorothy Williams; a daughter-in-law, Mattie Taylor and a host of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren all of whom she loved dearly.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Saturday September 19, 2020 at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Public viewing will be held Friday September 18, 2020 at the Chapel of Bynes-Royall 204 West Hall St. Savannah, GA. Masks and Social distancing are required at both Graveside and Viewing. Professional services entrusted to Bynes-Royall Funeral Home.
