Mrs. Mable Best Obituary

"The  steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to and end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."

Lamentations 3:22-23

Mrs. Mable Shannon-Best transitioned into eternal rest on Thursday morning, March 4, 2021. She was the 3rd child of 8 children born to Moscoe and Eva Pringle-Shannon. Mabel was born in Sumter County, SC and attended some schooling there before relocating to Chatham County, GA.  At 12 years old, she was baptized and became a member of First Tabernacle Ministry. She served on the usher board with great delight ushering people into the Lord's house.

Mable was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother and nurturer to many. She was employed by Armstrong College for several years before becoming disabled to work, however, she never let that stop her from serving her community in manys ways especially through her excellence in cooking and making THRILLS...

She thanked God every morning and was ready to get dressed for Georgia Infirmary Adult Daycare Center faithfully. She and LuLu. LuLu became the apple of her eye of comfort.

As we begin to reflect on Mabel's life journey, let's be mindful of her family. She was 1 of 8 children, all of whom has passed and went home to be with the Lord. She was the last of her siblings to run this race and she ran it with faith in God. She loved her family and cherished them all. Most of all, she cherished her loving daughter Beverly and her daughter cherished her beyond the love a daughter would have for a mother.

Mable was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Best; parents Moscoe and Eve Shannon; 4 sisters, Francis, Alice and Hallie Shannon and Naomi Shannon-James. Three brothers, Edward Charles Shannon Sr., Vanish Shannon, Sr., and Robert Shannon, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories , daughter, Beverly S. Best-Dumas; grandson, Torrance P. (Nana) Best; granddaughters, Kristen L. (Tony) Dumas-Proctor and Beverly A. (Donald) Dumas-Thomas. 6 great grands, Breyon Gibbs, Chyna Proctor, Donmoni Tomas, Paris Proctor, Donna (Don) Thomas, III and Donaldson Thomas; two great great grands, Gabby (GG) Gibbs and Dallas Quinn. A host of nieces nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. One best close friend over 50 years, Ethel Wright Robinson.
