"So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith not by sight, Yes we are of good courage, and we would rather be way from the body and at home with the Lord."
2Corinthians 5:6-8
Early Sunday morning April 25, 2021, God peacefully whispered in Geraldine's ear that it was time to come home from labor to reward. Geraldine Jordan Massey was the oldest girl born to Gerald Smith Sr. and Florence Elizabeth Jordan Smith on February 18, 1946 in New York City. There she was educated through the public school system.
During her late teens, Geraldine married Charles Massey, Sr. who was in the Navy at that time. Geraldine was very much a people person and even did some modeling early in her career for her brother, fashion designer Al Jordan. After spending all of her life in New York City, Geraldine decided on a change of scenery and moved to Savannah, GA in the early 2000's to be with her mother. She definitely fell in love with the south, being a laid back person she was. Geraldine found work at the LA Quinta Inn and worked in hospitality while enjoying life.
She leaves behind 3 sons: Charles Jr., Matthew and Marvin; sister, Cynthia Jones; brothers, Gerald Smith Jr. and Roland Smith; niece, Paris Jones, cousins Cherry Hamilton and Elston Williams; close sister/friends Valaria Patterson, Erica McKiver and Ann Jones; a host of family members and countless friends. Geraldine was truly loved from the moment she arrived until her final breath on earth. Mom you will be missed, but I know you will continue to watch over us from Heaven.
