Mr. John "Bobby" Mathis, Sr. 81, of Savannah, GA, passed on Friday , August 21, 2020 at Hospice Savannah, Born July 31, 1939 in Jenkins County, he was the son of the late Sue Jessie McIntyre.
Bobby was educated in the public schools of Savannah Chatham county where he was a 1958 graduate of Alfred E. Beach High school. He was employed for many years at Kemira where he retired. He loved his job as a bartender at "Sey Hey" on Bull St. Bobby was a Commander of The Sons of American Legion Post 500. He was a member of Connor's Temple Baptist church.
Bobby leaves to cherish his memory; a loving and devoted wife, Eloise B. Mathis; 4 sons, John (Linda) Mathis, Gregory Mathis, Stanley Mathis and Tony (Kinisha) Mathis all on Savannah; 3 daughters, Wanda Stewart and Tammy Demery both of Savannah and Emeka (Shawn) Henderson of Raleigh, NC; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held 12: noon Friday August 28, 2020 at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Pastor Thomas Sills, Eulogist. Live streaming on our Facebook page at 12 noon. Public viewing 3:00-6:00 pm Thursday August 27, 2020 at the Chapel of Bynes-Royall. Social distancing and Masks are required at Graveside and Viewing.
