Alan Wayne Gilford, Sr known by must as “Gilford” was born September 26, 1960, to Mrs. Dorothy Green and Mr. Harvey Gilford, Sr.
Gilford grew up in the Carver Village Community and was a proud graduate of H. V. Jenkins High School class of 1978 where he played basketball and football.
He also graduated from Savannah Technical College with an associate degree in electrical Utility Technology. He worked over 32 years for Savannah Electric/ Georgia Power, 5 years with Sumter Utilities and was currently working with ILA 1414 Association as a Longshoreman. Gilford was preceded in death by his parents and sister Mrs. Gwendolyn Bacon. Gilford is survived by his loving son: AJ Gilford (Johnniesha) Grandsons, Alan Wayne Gilford III and Amar Jayse Gilford, brother, Earl Bostick (Louise) sisters, Margaret Bostick, Priscilla Lester, Gloria D. McKine, Tango R. Hill (Kenderson), Delores Ulmer, Henrietta Wright (Anthony) Juanita T. Gilford-Hall, Ms. Jacquelyn Sumpter his Friend for LIFE and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Saturday June 24, 2023, at First African Baptist Church of East Savannah, 402 Treat Ave., Savannah, GA 31404.
Interment Greenwich Cemetery.
Public viewing 3-6:00 pm Friday June 23, 2023, at The Chapel of Bynes-Royall, 204 West Hall St., Savannah, GA 31401.
