On October 20,1961, Gwendolyn C. “GiGi” (Griffin) Odom was born to the late Mr. Eddie Griffin, Sr. and Mrs. Margret Pressley- Griffin. Gwendolyn was born in Savannah, Georgia and educated in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.
She attended Savannah High School and graduated in the top of her class in 1979. She also attended Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama. She was employed with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System as Bus Driver for many years.
Later, she became a Flight Attendant and traveled the world. Gwendolyn was proceeded in death by her son, Elijah GriffinOdom, and her sister, Angela Michelle Griffin. Gwendolyn was called from labor to reward on July 5, 2022, at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving children: Ebone` A. Washington-Oliver, and Edward G. Mells, both of Savannah, Georgia. Eden A. Odom, of Fredrick, Virginia. Elisha G. Odom and Eternity (Justin) A. Odom-Lee, both of Jacksonville. Florida. 6 grandchildren: Jada A. Oliver, Jala L. Oliver, Emoni George, Emari George, Elisha G. Odom, Jr. and Emmit A. Odom. 1 brother: Fred Arthur (Comer) Gaskin, Sr. of Atlanta, Georgia. 4 sisters, LaVinea (Robert) Kennedy, Vivian Griffin Roundtree, Charlotte (Allen) Griffin-Hamilton, and Betty Mae Williams. Godfather, Nathaniel Hart. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 am Saturday July 23, 2022 at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church
