A time tp\o be born, and a time to die...A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time mourn, and a time dance.
Mr. Levon Dexter Bowers was born January21, 1955 to the late Mr. Willie, Jr. and Emma Robbins Bowers.
He attended the public schools of Chatham and graduated from A. E. Beach in 1974. On
August 3, 2022, Levon took flight from this earth to his home in glory.
Levon was joined in Holy Matrimony to Rhonda Young June 21, 2003. He was trained in excellent culinary
skills of which we believe he learned a lot from his mother, Emma. He was also a counselor at Dismus House
His passion was servings the less fortune which led to a leadership position at the Inner City Night Shelter. He served in management
positions at IHOP (International House of Pancakes); Popeyes, Church's and Wild wings. He could be very
comical but also demonstrated a serious side. He had a beautiful smile and loved showing all of his teeth
when laughing. He had a love of music and sports. He was a member of the Beach Marching Bulldogs
where he played the snare drums. He was a cheerful giver, a dedicated family man, a doting
grandfather and a true friend to many. He had a big heart.
Levon was the oldest of three boys of which the two, Tyrone and Michael, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rhonda Y. Bowers; daughter, Mrs. Latiesi'a Y. Riley (Bernard);
son, Okemi Lawton; 4 grandchildren, Leona Eason, JeMar Young; Rodnesi'a Anderson,
Zion Lawton; 2 great grands, Seb'astia James, Tae'lynn Eason; 1 uncle, Horace Green (Juanita);
2 best friends, Daniel Harris, Dr. Eugene Walker;2 brothers-in-law, Earl young, Larry Young; 5 sisters-in-law,
Mae A. Young, Mary Young, Lillie P. Young, Felicia Young, Rose Bowers; and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins, and friends.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Saturday August 13, 2022.
at Oak Grove Cemetery. Public viewing Friday 3-6 pm at the Chapel of Bynes-Royall Funeral Home.
