Mr.James R. Jackson, 73 of Savannah, GA, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at his home.surrounded by his loving family.He was a native of Savannah Ga. He attended the public schools of Chatham County where he was a 1962 graduate of A.E. Beach high school. Mr. Jackson was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Head Gunnery Sergeant. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. James Raymond Jackson, Sr.  He is survived by his son, Rodney Major, daughter, Juanita Jackson Claxton all of New York City, his other heart strong son Christopher Venning of Texas and daughter Hope Venning of Baltimore; loving mother, Mrs. Irene Jackson; 3 brothers, Robert Lee Jackson of New York City, Melvin Douglas, Sr. Richard Harold, Sr.; sister, Brenda Gale Lowe; a very special cousin who he loved like a sister, Barbara Willis, another sister, Carolyne Jackson Smith, 3 more brothers, Nathaniel (Ethel) Merman, Joseph(Shirley) Bonaparte, Norman Mathis of Baltimore Maryland; best friend, Mr. Willie Bolton and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00am Friday January 6, 2017 at New Greater Owens Temple Ministries Inc.,4011 Rockdale Street Savannah, GA. Interment Lincoln Memorial Cemetery
